CR 700N and the 1809 Treaty of Fort Wayne

County Road 700N here is on the west boundary of Royce Area 73 (ceded by the 1809 Treaty of Fort Wayne).

Archer House in Marshall, Illinois

I rode into Marshall on old US-40, and instead of taking the bypass took old, old US-40 to the old downtown. When I was not there I had not known of a Black Hawk war connection to the Archer House shown here. Col. Archer had raised a milita company for service in the Black Hawk war.

Southwest of Marshall IL (the water tower can be seen a couple miles away) CR 1530, an east-west roadd, crosses the west boundary of Royce 73. The road jogs where it crosses the treaty line. The edge of the cornfield to the left (north) of the road coincides with the west boundary of the treaty region (a region ceded by the 1809 Treaty of Fort Wayne). One of two versions of this photo has an orange line to show where the treaty line ran.
