July 22 - Battle Creek to Shiphewana

Pine Creek school

I had been several years since I last rode through Pine Creek. I was surprised and pleased to see the sign indicating a school site. I don't know if the residence is a former school, or just the site of a former school. Either way, it's good to see it memorialized this way.

Grange in Leonidas

The little store in Leonidas where I used to stop to get a bite to eat is no longer open. It moved from its old buiding to a newer one near the grange, but looked as though it had been closed for some time now. (It had been a few years since I had last ridden this way; I used to do it a few times a year.)

Shipshewana park

The 60 miles to Shipshewana went quickly, and I arrived before Myra had left home. So I went to the city park and rested in my chair while I waited for her.
