Slippery Elm Trail

I started the ride wouth (after a few wrong turns in getting there) on the north end of the Slippery Elm Trail, in Bowling Green.

Unlike the closed-in feel one get on a lot of multi-use trails where the trees and brush have been allowed to obscure the view, there are places on the Slippery Elm Trail where one can actually see the scenery beyond the trail. I like it.

Hull's Route in 1812

Roadside column marking a spot on the route that Hull's army took to Detroit in 1812. One of the forts along the route was established near the Sciota River, near the horizon.
