Stopped at the park in Boaz for old times' sake. The first time I took a break here was in 1996.

Akan Town Hall driveway

The driveway to the Akan Town Hall got busy while I was there. The township has a population of about 400, and a good percentage of the households seemed to have come for the recycling.

Clayton Town Hall (garage) on US Hwy 61, south of Soldiers Grove.

Picnic shelter at Beauford T. Anderson Park.

In Soldiers Grove I got a long lunch, then an even longer nap on a picnic table bench in Beauford T. Anderson Park. Mrs. Spokesrider was watching my progress on Life360, and wondered what was taking me so long.

River Road

Going south on River Road in the Kickapoo River valley.

Tainter Creek Valley

At the intersection of Johnstown Road and Hwy B in Crawford County. Tainter Creek flows through this valley.

Winneshiek Marker by Dr. C. V. Porter

In the 1930s a Dr. C. V. Porter placed a series of markers about the Black Hawk War in Vernon County. These are in many places displayed side by side with more modern markers.

New Winnoshik Marker

The newer marker accompanying the old one by Dr. C.V. Porter. It's in a roadside turnout overlooking the Mississippi River, north of De Sota.
